"Unwavering in combat, extremely lucky in love," Yup, that's me. I spent my time in Iraq, and since then, people have asked me if being deployed in a warzone changes you, makes you more bitter or pained; if anything I find the opposite to be true. I treasure each and every single day for the gift that it is, for I truly know how fleeting that gift can be. Each day that I, my friends, and my family all wake up is a blessing and a good day, and everything beyond that is gravy. I live each day to the fullest, love to laugh (and make others laugh), am an avid reader, huge movie buff, love to dance (I used to swing dance competitively), enjoy martial arts and sports (both watching and playing, especially hockey, waterpolo, and golf), skydive and SCUBA dive, and am currently learning to play the guitar. I love to write (had a number of my poems and short stories published and am currently working on a book based on my experiences in Iraq) and draw (I've had a few of my comics published, and designed the logos and graphics standards for my Division while we were overseas...).
I spent over 10 years in the computer industry, eventually working my way up to Senior Management at the world's largest webhosting company, but following the events of 9-11-01, when the country went to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, I left my 9-to-5, 6-figure job to serve my country in the U.S. Army. I volunteered for and recently returned from a tour in Iraq.
I've gotten the chance to do and experience so many things in my life. I can honestly say I've done more in my life than most people twice (or three times, for that matter) my age. I left a good career to serve my country, and can say that I've been blessed in so many ways because of it.
